Trilateral talks in Geneva on ending the war in Ukraine will begin today, February 17, in the afternoon, spokesperson of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Diana Davitian told journalists.

"Talks of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia in Geneva will approximately begin at lunchtime," Davitian said.

CNN sources note that United States special envoy Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of United States President Jared Kushner will take part in talks between Russia and Ukraine that will begin during the day.

Russian media reports that talks of delegations will begin after 13:00 Kyiv time.

It is not excluded that this is connected with the fact that bilateral talks between the United States and Iran are scheduled in Geneva in the first half of the day.

Talks in Geneva

The third stage of talks with the participation of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States will take place in Geneva today. Earlier delegations held meetings twice in Abu Dhabi.

The Ukrainian delegation includes Rustem Umerov and the head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov. They intend to raise the issue of the so-called energy truce.

Russia in Geneva will be represented by Vladimir Medinsky. The Russian side stated plans to discuss territorial aspects within the framework of the so-called Anchorage formula, which envisions freezing of the line of contact and preservation of control of Russia over Donbas.

Earlier, the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov also said that "a wider range of issues" will be discussed at talks in Geneva.
