General Staff reports on frontline situation - Toretsk remains most tense
On the front line throughout June 22, as of the evening, 133 combat engagements were recorded. About a third of all enemy assaults and attacks occurred in the Pokrovsk direction, while the situation in the Toretsk direction is described as tense, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The military command has released a report on the operational situation on the front as of 22:00 on June 22.
It is noted that Ukrainian defenders continue to decisively counter the enemy's attempts to advance into the depths of the country's territory, inflicting effective fire damage on the Russian army, and exhausting them along the entire front line.
The General Staff reported that there were 133 combat engagements since the beginning of the day.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army, with aviation support, attacked near Vovchansk during the day. Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 2 enemy assault actions, and another engagement is currently ongoing.
"According to preliminary information, enemy losses since the beginning of the day amounted to 64 soldiers killed and wounded, two artillery systems and six vehicles destroyed. 35 personnel shelters and one ammunition storage facility were hit," the General Staff reported.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy made 15 attempts to displace Ukrainian forces from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Andriivka, and Miasozharivka.
On this sector of the front, 12 enemy attacks were successfully repelled. The General Staff noted that the situation remains tense near Stelmakhivka, where 3 combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attempted to advance 8 times in the areas of Nevske, Terni, and Novosadove. Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks.
The situation in the Siversk direction has not changed significantly. Since the beginning of the day, the Russian forces have carried out 10 assault actions in the areas of Verkhniokamianske, Rozdolivka, Spirne, and Vyiimka. 9 enemy attacks ended unsuccessfully, and 1 engagement is still ongoing. The General Staff added that the situation is under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces units.
"Four enemy attempts to approach our positions near Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, and Ivanivka in the Kramatorsk direction failed. A battle near Klishchiivka is ongoing," the report says.
The situation is tense in the Toretsk direction. Since the beginning of the day, the number of attempts by the occupiers to infiltrate the defensive positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has increased to 15.
It is noted that the enemy, with aviation support, attacked near Toretsk, Pivnichne, and New York.
"Ukrainian Defense Forces have repelled 11 assault actions, and four engagements are still ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers are exerting maximum effort to restrain the enemy's activity and exhaust them," the General Staff reported.
The intensity of combat remains high in the Pokrovsk direction. The number of engagements has increased to 44.
Military command stated that the enemy, with the support of all available means of fire damage (aviation, artillery, armament of combat vehicles, strike UAVs, FPV drones, and small arms), continues to pressure the combat formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Oleksandrivka, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Yevhenivka, Sokil, Novoselivka Persha, Novopokrovske, and Karlivka.
"Our soldiers have repelled 32 enemy attacks, and 12 combat engagements are still ongoing," the report says.
According to preliminary data, enemy losses in this direction amounted to 319 soldiers killed and wounded. Additionally, 1 tank, 2 combat armored vehicles, a gun, and a car were destroyed. Losses are being clarified.
In the Kurakhove direction, there have been 15 engagements since the beginning of the day. The enemy remains active near Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Paraskoviivka. 11 enemy attacks have been repelled, and the fighting continues.
In the Prydniprovsk direction, 6 enemy assault actions were unsuccessful. There have been no losses of positions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The situation remains unchanged in other directions.
Strikes against Russian forces
The General Staff noted that the defenders of Ukraine confidently withstand the pressure of Russian forces.
"Special mention should be made of the soldiers of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Sirko, who bravely hold their positions, skillfully repel enemy attacks, and effectively use fire weapons against personnel and equipment, inflicting significant losses on the Russian army," the military command reported.
During the day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck:
- 17 areas of concentration of enemy personnel,
- enemy command post,
- 2 air defense systems,
- 4 ammunition depots,
- EW (electronic warfare) station,
- 1 radar.
Earlier, it was reported that, according to analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces could intensify attacks in the Toretsk direction. Their goal here is to reinforce the offensive on Chasiv Yar from the south.
Additionally, as stated by the spokesperson of the operational-strategic grouping Khortytsia Nazar Voloshyn on June 22, Russian forces have suspended their combat operations in the Kharkiv region and are withdrawing their units for replenishment due to significant losses.
