Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue their defensive operation in Pokrovsk. The information published by the German outlet Bild about the complete capture of the city by Russian troops and a "finished battle" does not correspond to reality, Major Andriy Kovalov, spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told RBC-Ukraine.

According to the spokesperson, the position of Ukraine’s military command remains unchanged.

“The situation in Pokrovsk is extremely difficult. But Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue holding the northern part of the city along approximately the railway line. Our units are also carrying out active operations to eliminate enemy pockets,” he said.

Kovalov added that both in the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad areas, Ukrainian soldiers are taking measures to improve logistics and block attempts by Russian forces to build up assault groups and advance around the settlements.

Fighting in Pokrovsk

As a reminder, it was previously reported that Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue restraining the enemy, but heavy fog is complicating the defense of Pokrovsk. Under the cover of fog, Russian troops are trying to infiltrate the city.

Yesterday, General Staff spokesperson Kovalov told RBC-Ukraine how Russian troops, using thick fog, attempted to plant a flag in Pokrovsk for a propaganda video. They fled immediately afterward.

According to the General Staff’s morning update, over the past 24 hours, on December 2, Ukrainian defenders stopped 52 enemy assault actions in the Pokrovsk direction, near the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Maiak, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, and others.
