Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian army, but fog is complicating the defense of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, reports the 7th Rapid Response Corps of Ukraine's Air Assault Forces.
"Due to worsening weather conditions, the defensive operation in Pokrovsk has become more difficult. Thick fog, which persisted over the city throughout yesterday, significantly complicated the work of Ukrainian units, particularly aerial reconnaissance," the statement said.
Military officials said the fog limits visibility and reduces the ability to detect and engage enemy forces.
Meanwhile, Russian troops are trying to exploit the poor visibility. They are reinforcing positions, creating shelters within urban areas, and preparing for a further offensive.
"Under poor weather conditions, the enemy has the opportunity to bring more personnel into the city," the military explained.
Despite the unfavorable conditions, units in the 7th Corps' area of responsibility continue aerial reconnaissance, fire correction, and strikes against Russian groups.
"On November 27-28, Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk eliminated 29 personnel and wounded another nine. Most of the enemy were neutralized in small-arms engagements," the statement said.
The 7th Corps also released a video showing the difficulties of detecting and eliminating enemy forces.
Yesterday, Serhii Okishev, spokesperson for the 7th Rapid Response Corps, said Russian troops are concentrated mainly in the southern part of Pokrovsk, with smaller groups scattered across the city. He added that the enemy continuously assaults Ukrainian positions but suffers heavy losses.
In addition, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said on November 27 that Ukrainian forces have actively eliminated Russian troops in Pokrovsk over the past week. More than one-third of the city has been cleared of enemy forces.
