Ukraine's gas production could drop by 30% in 2025 compared to last year, said Natalia Boiko, deputy chair of the supervisory board of Naftogaz Ukraine.
"How much will we lose from the strikes… If we consider our ambitious growth targets, it is clear that it will be more than 30%," she said at the Energy of Business forum in Kyiv.
Boyko noted that after strikes on energy facilities in February, Ukraine lost 50% of generation, but by early September, lost gas production had been restored.
Up to 60% of production was lost due to attacks in October. It is being recovered now.
Despite this, the goal for both state and private gas producers remains to reach pre-February production levels.
Gas for winter
Ukraine had planned to store 13.2 billion cubic meters of gas in underground facilities before the heating season.
Deputy Energy Minister Mykola Kolisnyk said on October 20 that Ukraine has "99.5% completed the plan for pumping gas into underground storage facilities ahead of the heating season".
In autumn 2025, Russia intensified attacks on Ukraine's gas infrastructure, disabling up to 60% of domestic production capacity.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported significant losses in domestic production but declined to provide public figures.
She also stated that Ukraine urgently needs to address additional gas imports, without specifying volumes.
