On the evening of July 10, a gas pipeline exploded in the Russian city of Langepas, located in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug of the Tyumen region. The pipeline supplies the Russian military-industrial complex, according to RBC-Ukraine's sources in the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR).

The source reported that a section of a major trunk pipeline servicing defense industry facilities in the Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, and Sverdlovsk regions was destroyed as a result of a special operation.

The damaged pipeline has an annual capacity of 2.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Given the distance between the gas compressor stations (approximately 20 kilometers), around 4,112,000 cubic meters of gas were inside the two sections of the pipeline hit by the explosions.

With the current market price of natural gas at around $350 per 1,000 cubic meters, the immediate financial damage from the incident is estimated at no less than $1.3 million.

The HUR source noted that repairs and testing of the pipeline are expected to take about a month. The damaged section runs through a swampy area, complicating the efforts of repair crews. As a result, gas supply during this period is expected to decrease by up to 25 million cubic meters, causing an additional estimated indirect loss of nearly $76 million.

According to local media reports, powerful explosions left residents "deeply alarmed." Emergency services and repair crews immediately arrived at the scene.

The Ukrainian intelligence source added that Western Siberia, with its vast natural resources that essentially feed Moscow and allow the Kremlin to live in luxury, should once again consider its own separate future.

"There’s a sense that once locals begin actively pushing for independence from the central government, these kinds of unexplained explosions will stop. Siberians will no longer die for Putin’s interests in the so-called special military operation, and the region could thrive thanks to its own natural wealth. Until then, it seems likely that things will keep happening here and there, with explosions, and huge losses," the source said.

Explosions on Russian gas pipelines

On July 5, the Russian Vladivostok gas pipeline exploded, which provides gas to several military facilities of the Russian Armed Forces located along the coast of the Sea of Japan, namely, some units of the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet. The water pipeline was also destroyed.
