G7 countries condemn DPRK for missile launches and military cooperation with Russia
The G7 countries have condemned the illegal ballistic missile launches of North Korea and its military cooperation with Russia, according to a statement issued by the G7 ministers.
The statement said that any launch using ballistic missile technology, even if characterized as a military reconnaissance satellite, is a "clear and flagrant violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions. It also stressed that North Korea (DPRK) continues to develop nuclear weapons in violation of UN resolutions.
The G7 also denounced North Korea's provision of weapons to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine.
"We urge North Korea and Russia to abide by these UNSCRs and immediately cease all such activities," the statement said.
In this regard, the G7 nations urged the world to offer a prompt, unified, and resolute reply.
Cooperation between North Korea and Russia
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin has continuously requested North Korea to provide missiles. After some time, the DPRK delivered over 1 million artillery shells to Russia in August of this year.
Reports state that the DPRK made approximately 10 weapons deliveries to Russia, enough to sustain about two months of fighting.
After Kim Jong-un's recent visit to Russia, the White House announced that the North Korean regime provided 1,000 containers of military equipment and ammunition to the occupiers. Andrii Yusov also provided an explanation backing up his claim.
It is worth noting that, according to Andrii Yusov, representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the DPRK cannot sustainably supply Russia in the ongoing conflict.
