Future peacekeepers must operate on land, in air and at sea - Ukrainian FM

Ukraine has a clear understanding of the capabilities and roles of its partners in the country’s future security infrastructure. Potential peacekeepers should be deployed on land, at sea, and in the air, stated Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
According to Sybiha, any future long-term peace agreement is impossible without reliable security guarantees.
"As for the potential deployment of military contingents, we are currently holding detailed consultations with our allies, with the Coalition of the Willing. Allied military presence must be on land, in the air, and at sea. At this point, we’ve already reached a clear understanding of our partners’ capabilities and roles in Ukraine’s future security infrastructure," he added.
Potential deployment of peacekeepers
A number of European Union countries are currently not ruling out the deployment of military contingents in Ukraine after the full-scale war ends. In early April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the United Kingdom and France would be the first to send peacekeepers. However, The Times reported that London and Paris might ultimately abandon such plans and instead deploy military instructors to western Ukraine as a form of support.
Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni proposed extending NATO’s Article 5 protections to Ukraine, even without formal membership in the Alliance. According to Secretary General Mark Rutte, the idea could be considered once the full-scale war is over.
