Fuel supply issues in Ukraine: Ministry of agrarian policy identifies the cause
Ukraine is currently experiencing a fuel supply predicament because of the blockage of Polish carriers, said the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Dmytrasevych Markiyan during the telethon.
According to Dmytrasevych, the current situation at the border is not impeding grain exports. However, there are issues with the supply of fuel.
"Our trucks are currently blocked at the border between Ukraine and Poland, resulting in a reduction of food exports from Ukraine. While we have been able to partially compensate for these losses, we are facing difficulties with crucial supplies such as fuel for Ukraine. It is important to take this into consideration," stated the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food in Ukraine.
Ukraine has various options for exporting food, such as rail transport, as well as using the Black Sea and Danube ports.
Situation on the border between Ukraine and Poland
In November, Polish carriers declared a strike set to end in January 2024. At the strike's onset, they effectively obstructed three checkpoints on the Ukraine border: "Yahodyn - Dorohusk, Korczowa - Krakovets, and Rava-Ruska - Kreben." Only one truck per hour could traverse each checkpoint in one direction. Buses, cars, and pedestrians remained unaffected by the strike.
Our earlier report covered the stranded drivers at the Ukraine-Poland border who are currently seeking evacuation.
Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the blockade at the border will require some time to resolve and that "everything will warm up."
To learn more about the blockade and why fulfilling the demands of Polish protesters is impossible, refer to the RBC-Ukraine article.
