Front to stabilize soon, Ukraine plans counteroffensive actions, top commander states
The situation on the front remains difficult but controlled. Ukraine plans to conduct counteroffensive operations this year, according to the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pavliuk.
According to Pavliuk, Russian terrorists are currently doing everything possible to maximize the occupation of territories before the presidential elections in Russia. According to intercepted conversations, even those who came to the front without training a week or two ago are being thrown into enemy assaults.
"Everything is being done to seize the initiative. Our task is to stabilize the front line, maximize enemy destruction, make maximum regrouping for the withdrawal of units that need restoration, create a striking force, and conduct counteroffensive operations this year. We are succeeding in this. The situation is stabilizing," Pavliuk said.
According to the Commander of the Ground Forces, there are several hotspots remaining:
- Avdiivka direction;
- Chasiv Yar direction;
- Terny direction towards Lyman.
Heavy fighting continues daily in these directions, but our soldiers confidently hold their ground, inflicting huge losses on the enemy.
"I believe that soon we will stabilize the situation and do everything to make the troops engage in active operations and seize the initiative," Pavliuk added.
Frontline situation
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the past day, March 5, there were 86 clashes on the front. Meanwhile, the enemy is pressing on two fronts in the Donetsk region.
As analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) write, our soldiers are repelling the assaults of Russian occupiers in the Robotyne area, in the Avdiivka direction, and in the Novomykhailivka area, as well as on the left bank of the Kherson region.
As Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov has noted, the situation on the front is currently difficult, but everything is developing rapidly. At the same time, Ukraine will find answers to the challenges arising from the ammunition hunger, replenishment of reserves, and others.
