Rheinmetall said it admires Ukraine's innovative efforts, following remarks by the company's CEO, who previously dismissed Ukrainian drones and their makers, comparing them to "playing with Lego."

"We have the utmost respect for the Ukrainian people's immense efforts in defending themselves against the Russian attack - now for more than four years," the company post states.

The statement stressed that every woman and man in Ukraine is making an "immeasurable contribution," particularly by maintaining high combat effectiveness despite limited resources.

"The innovative strength and the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people are an inspiration to us. We are grateful to be able to support with the resources at our disposal," Rheinmetall added.

As of yesterday, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger had disparaged Ukrainian drones, claiming their production "was how to play with Legos" and that their development level could not compare with the technologies of major Western defense firms.

He also likened Ukrainian drone manufacturers to "housewives using 3D printers in the kitchen" to make drone parts at home.

"This is how to play with Legos. What is the innovation of Ukraine? They don't have some technological breakthrough," Rheinmetall CEO stressed.

Ukrainian drone makers later responded to Papperger, stating that the era of "housewives" has arrived if domestically produced drones are delivering results.
