From intelligence to pilots: Trump may halt all support for Ukraine, says NYT

The administration of US President Donald Trump may cease all assistance to Ukraine, including indirect support, says The New York Times.
As reported by the New York Times, on Friday, February 28, a representative of the Trump administration stated that all US assistance to Ukraine — including the recent supplies of ammunition and equipment authorized and funded during Joe Biden's administration — could be canceled in the near future.
Following a disagreement between the US and Ukrainian presidents in the Oval Office, the Trump administration official also indicated that President Trump might decide to end even indirect support to Ukraine.
Such support includes other types of military funding, intelligence sharing, training of Ukrainian troops and pilots, as well as the placement of an international aid coordination center at a US base in Germany.
The New York Times points out that, according to data from the Kiel Institute, European countries have allocated $138 billion for Ukraine’s military operations, compared to $119 billion in military and humanitarian assistance from the US.
The publication also adds that, by the time of the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, 50 days had passed since the Pentagon announced the last arms package for Ukraine. Since Trump’s inauguration, no new packages have been announced.
It’s worth recalling that, following the disagreement between Zelenskyy and Trump at the White House, The Washington Post, citing a Trump administration official, reported that the US may consider halting military aid to Ukraine, but CNN indicates that such risks are unlikely.
Zelenskyy and Trump’s dispute
On Friday, February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Washington, where he met with Donald Trump at the White House. Their meeting was public, with media representatives present, and US Vice President Jay D. Vance also participated in the discussion.
During the conversation between Zelenskyy, Trump, and Vance, a dispute arose regarding the war in Ukraine. As later explained by the Ukrainian president, the disagreement was triggered by claims that Ukraine had supposedly been destroyed, millions had died, and the president was a “dictator.”
After the dispute, Trump gathered his key advisors in the Oval Office. Subsequently, Zelenskyy left the White House earlier than planned.
Trump, in turn, stated that the Ukrainian president was allegedly not ready for peace.
It should also be noted that a deal between Ukraine and the US regarding minerals was expected to be signed in Washington. However, it was not signed due to the failed negotiations between the presidents.
