'Free world vitally needs to maintain its consolidation': Zelenskyy addresses G7
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7). He emphasized the necessity for the free world to maintain its unity and cooperation, according to a statement from the Ukrainian president.
Zelenskyy notes that Japan's leadership within the G7 has been highly productive. He highlights that over the past year, Ukraine has won the battle in the Black Sea, has the potential to endure winter despite possible Russian energy threats, and maintains positions on multiple fronts, preparing for future steps.
"The free world vitally needs to maintain its consolidation, maintaining interaction, maintaining support for those whose freedom is being attacked. I believe that together we can make the next year productive for us, for free nations. Not for Putin," emphasizes the president.
Zelenskyy emphasizes Ukraine's strength and urges leaders to "be as strong as they can be."
"I want to thank you on behalf of all Ukrainian warriors, every Ukrainian family, and our entire state for your incresibly significant support!" adds the head of state.
Support for Ukraine from G7 countries
Since the full-scale invasion by Russia, G7 partners have supported Ukraine across various fronts. Overall, over the course of almost two years, more than $30 billion has been provided.
Media reports have also indicated that the G7 nations will continue freezing Russian assets until Ukraine receives compensation for the damage caused by the war.
