France and the United Kingdom have prepared a security guarantee plan for Ukraine, which may include sending troops to the country, stated French President Emmanuel Macron during a meeting with US President Donald Trump, Le Figaro reports.
Macron stated that France and the UK have developed a security guarantee plan for Ukraine.
According to him, the plan may involve deploying European soldiers to Ukraine. However, they will not necessarily be positioned on the front lines but will be present as a guarantee.
The French President emphasized that Europeans are prepared to go as far as sending troops to Ukraine to ensure that peace is upheld.
Security guarantees for Ukraine
Previously, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated that President Donald Trump wants to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, but security guarantees will be entrusted to Europe.
According to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, US security guarantees are the only effective way to deter Russia from launching another attack on Ukraine.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, following an "emergency summit" in Paris, announced that Europe is ready to take the lead in providing security guarantees for Ukraine.
However, Rutte also noted that European security guarantees for Ukraine will require US support, as it is essential for deterring Russia.
Today, media reports indicated that the US opposes including security guarantees in its agreement with Ukraine on rare earth metals. Discussions on this issue will continue.
