President of France Emmanuel Macron announced that France and Britain have decided to send a special mission to Ukraine. It will focus on strengthening the Ukrainian army, according to BFMTV.

The French president stated that a "Franco-British team" would be sent to Ukraine, without disclosing further details about its composition.

"It will work closely with Ukraine to prepare all aspects of the future structure of the Ukrainian army — in terms of its size, the number of soldiers, and equipment," Macron noted.

Additionally, according to Macron, the team is expected to assess Ukraine’s military aid needs.

Deployment of Instructors to Ukraine

It is worth noting that last year, Europe discussed the possibility of sending military instructors to Ukraine to train Ukrainian soldiers on-site. A special coalition was even proposed for this purpose.

France was the first to suggest this initiative. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, had previously stated that Paris had already made a decision to send instructors, but this information was not confirmed.

Following further discussions, no progress was made. Ukrainian troops continue to receive training in several European countries.

In December last year, five French parliamentarians called on their government to send military instructors to Ukraine.
