Four European countries agree to develop new long-range missiles
France, Germany, Italy, and Poland want to develop new long-range cruise missiles, according to Reuters.
According to the agency, the defense ministers of the four countries signed a letter of intent on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
The countries want to develop ground-launched missiles that can hit targets at a distance of up to 500 kilometers. This is necessary to fill the gap in European arsenals that was discovered after Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
No more details about the plans of France, Germany, Italy, and Poland are available yet.
Development of a new tank
Back in 2017, France and Germany agreed to develop a new tank to replace the Leopard 2 and Leclerc.
In April, it became known that the countries had agreed to share production between manufacturers. The first contracts may be signed by the end of 2024. The development of the new tank is expected to last until 2040.
