Prince Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor, who lost his royal titles due to his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, has been arrested. Searches are underway at his properties, according to BBC.

Why the King’s brother was arrested

In a statement, British police said that on February 19, a man over 60 from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Searches are also taking place at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.

Law enforcement has not officially named the arrested individual, but details of the case match information about Mountbatten‑Windsor. Police vehicles were spotted near the residence where he currently lives.

Andrew is suspected of abusing his official position while serving as a trade envoy for the United Kingdom and is believed to have passed confidential information to Jeffrey Epstein.

Police also confirmed that the arrested man is currently in custody.

What is known about Prince Andrew’s ties to Epstein

Last October, King Charles III stripped his brother of the title of Prince due to his controversial past. In addition, he lost the right to reside at the house near Windsor Castle.

Andrew has consistently denied his connections to Jeffrey Epstein and the accusations made against him. However, posthumous memoirs of one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Giuffre, claimed that she had intimate encounters with Andrew three times while she was a minor.

The former prince has categorically denied these allegations. Nevertheless, emails from 2011 revealed that he had contact with Epstein, who was convicted of sexual crimes against minors, and allegedly used his friend’s connections to arrange “dates” with young women.
