Former NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg to take up new position
Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will chair the Munich Security Conference. This will happen in 2025, according to the press service of the Munich Security Conference.
According to the press service, Stoltenberg will begin work in February 2025. He will replace German diplomat Christoph Heusgen.
"I have dedicated my entire political life to maintaining peace. It is a great honor for me to serve as Chairman of the Munich Security Conference and make a contribution to its mission “peace through dialogue.” Few international platforms are as important as the MSC to promote conflict prevention, dialogue, and international cooperation," Stoltenberg noted.
What is known about the conference
The Munich Security Conference has been held in Munich every February since 1963.
During the conference, politicians, military officers, experts, and other participants discuss current security issues.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has participated in the Munich Security Conference several times.
This year, during the conference, he met with US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is currently the Democratic presidential candidate.
