She was best known for her role as Jessica in the drama 'Mammoth' (2009), where she played the daughter of Michelle Williams and Gael García Bernal's characters, and later appeared alongside stars like Jessica Alba and J.K. Simmons in 'An Invisible Sign' (2010).

Sophie's most high-profile project came in 2014 with Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic 'Noah,' where she shared the screen with Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, and Anthony Hopkins. Her performance was praised for its sincerity and maturity beyond her years.
Her family announced the heartbreaking news of her death in an online obituary published on April 17.
Although no official cause of death was released, her loved ones opened up about her private battles: "Sophie was a kind and trusting girl. Often this left her open to being taken advantage of by others."
The family also shared that her passion for writing and drawing revealed both her depth and her pain: "She wrote and drew voraciously and much of this art depicts the depth she had and it also represents the pain she suffered. Many of her writings and artwork are roadmaps of her struggles and traumas."
Despite ongoing support and professional help, her family admitted, "Those closest to her, plus therapists, law enforcement officers and others who tried to help her are heartbroken their efforts couldn't save her from her fate."
According to their statement, "She self medicated to deal with all the trauma and shame she held inside, and it resulted in her death."
Remembering a promising Hollywood talent lost too soon
Nyweide was described as creative, athletic, and wise beyond her years, with a passion for acting from a young age: "She dreamed (more like demanded!) to be an actor, without ever knowing her mother was an actor, so she did that too with an ease we all marveled about."
She attended school in New York and was known among friends and classmates as someone who picked up languages easily and adapted to any new environment.

Sophie was fluent in both English and Spanish, which helped her connect with international film crews and fellow actors. Her adventurous spirit meant she was always eager to travel for work or pleasure, embracing new cultures wherever she went.
Besides her film career, Sophie also made a television appearance in 2015 on the ABC reality series 'What Would You Do?,' which was her final screen credit.
Off camera, she loved reading, painting, and playing sports, and was often described as compassionate and quick to make friends. Her family recalled, "She seemed happiest on a movie set, becoming someone else. It was a safe place for her and she relish from the casts and crews who nourished her talent and her well being."
In her memory, her family has asked for donations to be made to RAINN, the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the US.
