Following Ukraine's example. Poland decides to create unmanned military forces
Following the lessons learned from the war in Ukraine, Poland has decided to establish unmanned military forces, according to the Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
"After studying the lessons of the war in Ukraine, we are creating an unmanned military component. We are forming units of UAVs," stated Kosiniak-Kamysz.
He emphasized that this initiative extends beyond just aerial drones.
"Their use is justified not only in the air. There are maritime drones, there are ground drones. Yesterday, during a meeting with the leadership of the Navy, we discussed the use of drones and how to adapt the technology to stay ahead," added the Polish minister.
Creation of Unmanned Systems Forces in Ukraine
In February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Cabinet of Ministers and the General Staff to consider the establishment of Unmanned Systems Forces within the structure of the Armed Forces as a separate branch.
The Ministry of Defense explained that establishing a separate branch of the military would enable the optimal utilization of the advantages offered by unmanned systems. The new organizational capabilities would not only facilitate the creation of dedicated positions for working with drones but also allow for the accumulation and assessment of drone applications.
