Five EU countries intend to extend ban on Ukrainian grain imports
Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia advocate for the extension of the EU ban on Ukrainian grain imports into these countries until the end of the year, according to Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus, cited by Reuters.
"We support a ban on imports into our countries until the end of the year. I want to say that even if it fails, some countries will introduce their own restrictions. Our declaration is clear," said Telus.
According to him, the five countries' agriculture ministers also agree that they support grain transit subsidies and want other products to be added to the list of import bans, such as raspberries in the case of Poland.
Ban on import of Ukrainian grain
In May, the European Union allowed five neighboring countries to Ukraine to impose a ban on the sale of Ukrainian wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds in their domestic markets, while permitting the transit of such goods for export to other countries.
The duration of this ban is set to expire on September 15.
Meanwhile, Ukraine anticipates that all restrictions by the European Commission on Ukrainian agricultural exports will be lifted by September 15.
