Fires and casualties in Kyiv as waves of Shahed drones strike city

Kyiv came under attack by Russian drones during the night of May 24. There are casualties in the capital, and fires have broken out in several districts of the city, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko.
"Two people were injured in the Dniprovskyi district of the capital. Medics are already on the scene," Klitschko reported.
According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, fires broke out on the first and top floors of a residential building in the Dniprovskyi district.
Other consequences of the attack:

Sviatoshynskyi district – fires reported at several addresses, including a non-residential building; medics were called, according to the mayor.

Solomianskyi district – preliminary reports indicate that drone debris hit the top floor of a residential building, igniting an apartment;

Obolonskyi district – missile debris and other fragments were recorded;

Shevchenkivskyi district – debris falls confirmed.
Number of injured rises
Updated at 2:25 AM Kyiv time. The head of the KCMA reported four injured in the Solomianskyi district, all suffering acute stress reactions, with no hospitalizations.
At the same time, Kyiv Mayor Klitschko stated there were six injured: four in the Sviatoshynskyi district, and two in the Dniprovskyi district who were hospitalized.
Updated at 2:37 AM Kyiv time. Klitschko reported that the number of people injured in the Russian attack had increased to eight. Two were hospitalized, while others received medical assistance on-site.
Combined strike on Kyiv
On the evening of May 23, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv due to a threat from drones, followed by ballistic missile warnings. The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed launches of ballistic missiles toward the capital.
According to the KCMA, four vehicles and building windows were damaged in the Holosiivskyi district due to falling debris, but no injuries were reported. In Kyiv Oblast, a 54-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were injured in a drone attack.
After midnight on May 24, Klitschko reported that over 20 Russian drones were heading toward Kyiv. Explosions were again heard in the city as air defenses were engaged.
