A fire broke out at the BAE Systems arms manufacturer in the United Kingdom. The blaze occurred in the shipyard where nuclear submarines are built, BBC informs.

On the night of October 30, a "significant fire" occurred at the Devonshire Dock Hall (DDH) shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, UK, according to media reports.

The factory belongs to BAE Systems, one of the largest arms manufacturers in the world, where nuclear submarines are built.

According to local police, everyone present at the plant was evacuated. Two workers were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.

Local residents were advised not to open their windows and to limit outdoor activities as much as possible. However, the police stated that there is no nuclear threat.

What is known about DDH

The Devonshire Dock Hall (DDH) shipyard produces nuclear submarines for the British Navy and is the second-largest shipbuilding complex of its kind in Europe.

BAE Systems is one of the largest arms manufacturers in the world. The company also produces Challenger tanks, M777 howitzers, fighter jets, armored combat vehicles, and other weaponry. Ukrainian defenders also receive products from BAE Systems.
