US President Donald Trump and his administration will likely realize over time that their strategy for achieving peace between Ukraine and Russia doesn't work, said Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, according to Sky News.

Valtonen expressed concern over the recent US decision to pause offensive cyber operations against Russia during negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.

She described the move as part of a broader White House strategy aimed at establishing peace by "effectively appeasing Russia and putting some pressure on Ukraine".

"In my personal view, it should be exactly the other way around, and I trust that Trump and his team will notice in due course that this probably doesn't work," Valtonen added.

Trump’s pressure on Ukraine

Recently, US President Donald Trump has made sharp attacks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Specifically, Trump called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections."

During Zelenskyy's visit to the White House, tensions flared between the two leaders. Trump was not satisfied with the fact Zelenskyy did not want to agree to a ceasefire without security guarantees.

Following this, Trump accused the Ukrainian President of not wanting to establish peace with Russia.

Meanwhile, on March 4, it was revealed that the US is halting military aid to Ukraine.
