Finland to close all borders crossings with Russia except for one
The Finnish government plans to close almost all border crossing points with Russia, leaving only one operational, reports Helsingin Sanomat.
"Mikko Puumalainen, the Deputy Chancellor of Justice in Finland, 'gave the green light' to a new project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to strengthen border crossing conditions on Wednesday," the statement says.
Media reports indicate that the Finnish government proposes to close all border crossings on the eastern border, with the exception of Rajajooseppi.

Rajajooseppi, located in the municipality of Inari, is the northernmost border crossing point in Finland. The government is prepared to make a decision on additional border restrictions as early as Wednesday.
Finland closes border with Russia
On November 18, Finland closed four border crossing points with Russia. The country's authorities explained these actions as a measure to combat the influx of refugees seeking asylum.
Later, it became known that Finland may completely close its border with Russia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing a corresponding bill, which is intended to be a contingency measure in case the number of asylum seekers in Finland increases significantly.
It is worth noting that Finnish border guards recently had to use tear gas when migrants attempted to illegally enter camps from Russia.
