Spring is a time of renewal, but instead of energy and uplift, many face apathy, fatigue, and the feeling of "not wanting anything." Why does this happen now, and how can we help ourselves when usual advice doesn't work? Ukrainian life coach Vitalii Kursik shared his insights with RBC-Ukraine.

Spring is a time for renewal, blooming, and... exhaustion. Instead of energy and inspiration, many feel fatigue, irritation, and a lack of desire to do anything.

"Sound familiar? This is classic spring apathy. But it can be overcome – the key is to approach the issue correctly," says the expert.

Why we experience spring apathy

Spring is a stressor for the body. After winter, the body is exhausted, biorhythms change, and the hormonal system is restructured.

"And also – a lack of vitamins, weather fluctuations, and the habit of the 'winter mode,' when all you wanted was to sleep and hide under a blanket," explains the coach.

How to overcome spring apathy

Give yourself some time

Apathy is a signal that the body needs rest. Allow yourself a few days without guilt: sleep more, do only the essentials, and don't force yourself to "squeeze out" energy.

Shift focus to something pleasant

If the thought of work or tasks only brings fatigue, find something that brings you joy: favorite music, a book, walks, or spending time with friends.

"Little joys recharge better than any motivational speeches," advises Vitalii Kursik.

Get out into the sun and fresh air

Spring sun is a natural antidepressant. Even 20 minutes a day outside will improve your well-being and help your brain wake up.

Add movement

You don’t have to run to the gym. Just walk more, do a few stretches in the morning, or move to music.

"Your body will say 'thank you' – and your mood will improve with it," emphasizes the expert.

Small steps – big changes

If it feels like you don’t want to do anything, set yourself a minimal task: not to "clear all tasks," but just write a list; not to "start a new life," but to get out of bed and drink a glass of water.

The main thing is to start moving. Spring is not only the awakening of nature but also a time when you can "restart" yourself.

"If it's hard to cope with apathy on your own, this may be a sign of deeper internal blocks. In such cases, it's worth consulting a specialist who can help you find the source of inspiration and the strength to move forward," summarizes Vitalii Kursik.
