The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have warned US law enforcement agencies about potential copycats who might attempt to repeat recent terrorist attacks, ABC reports.

The FBI and DHS issued a joint intelligence bulletin distributed to other law enforcement agencies as a precautionary measure.

The bulletin also states that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), to which the suspect in the New Orleans attack allegedly pledged allegiance, has been promoting the use of vehicles as weapons of terrorism since 2014, according to FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia.

"Sources told ABC News that ISIS has ramped up calls for its supporters to launch low-tech, mass casualty ramming attacks in recent months, especially since the most recent Israel-Hamas conflict began in October 2023," ABC states.

In addition, the bulletin provides law enforcement with tips on identifying potential signs of imminent attacks. These include:

  • Surveillance;
  • Forged documents;
  • Loans for vehicle rentals.

Terrorist attacks in US

On January 1, a Cybertruck exploded near the entrance of the Trump Las Vegas hotel, resulting in killed and injured victims. Both the police and billionaire Elon Musk did not rule out the possibility of a terrorist attack.

On the same day, in New Orleans, a vehicle drove into a crowd, followed by gunfire. Later, a flag of the terrorist organization ISIS was found in the possession of the driver who committed the attack.
