FBI to focus on counterterrorism following Iran strikes

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation is ramping up its resources to focus on counterterrorism, according to CBS News.
This comes after the United States launched airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to retaliate with an attack on a US airbase in Qatar.
According to two sources, in the past 48 hours, a memo was sent to FBI field office directors instructing them to refocus resources on terrorism-related threats, particularly domestic ones.
Notably, earlier this month, the FBI predicted in an internal report that it would need to prioritize Iran in the coming months. The document stated that the focus would be on "helping to apply maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran and its terror proxies."
This shift follows complaints from FBI personnel who said they were being pulled from counterterrorism assignments to work on immigration enforcement instead.
US security following strikes on Iran
On June 22, the US carried out airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites, Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. President Donald Trump called the operation "a remarkable military success."
On the evening of June 23, Iranian forces launched missiles at the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
As a result, the US decided to enhance domestic security measures amid the Iranian attacks, with authorities closely monitoring potential internal threats.
