Iran has begun retaliating for US strikes on its nuclear facilities. Missiles were launched toward American military bases in Qatar, according to Axios correspondent Barak Ravid on X and Reuters.

"Iran launched 10 missiles towards US bases in Qatar, Israeli official says," Ravid wrote.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that explosions were heard in the skies over Doha, the capital of Qatar.

According to the outlet's sources, air defense systems were also activated at the US Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq.

Iranian media reports that the intended target was the US Al Udeid base in Qatar, which hosts the Qatari Air Force, the US Air Force, and the British Royal Air Force.

Unconfirmed reports claim that Iran launched around 10 missiles at American targets, with three allegedly landing directly on the Al Udeid base.

US strike on Iran's nuclear facilities

On June 22, the United States carried out airstrikes on three of Iran's nuclear facilities located in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The operation involved specialized bunker-busting bombs that are exclusively in the arsenal of the US military.

These bombs were necessary to destroy the Fordow nuclear site, which is located deep beneath solid rock.

Later on Sunday, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the strikes had completely destroyed Iran's nuclear program.

Following the attack, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei warned that Washington would be held accountable.
