Continuous heavy rains hit southern China. Over 54,000 local residents were evacuated in Guangdong Province, according to Reuters.

According to media reports, floods have inundated cities in the densely populated Huang River Delta in southern China following record rainfall.

Floodwaters reached the second floor of buildings after washing away rice and potato fields. Eleven people are reported missing and three have died.

Since last Thursday, southern China has been experiencing heavy rains and powerful storms. This has led to an earlier-than-usual onset of the flood season in the region. Currently, 36 buildings have been destroyed and 48 buildings severely damaged, resulting in direct economic losses of nearly 140.6 million yuan (approximately 19.8 million dollars).

This region has experienced heavy rains before. However, until 2022, they did not result in severe floods.

Floods in the world

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that storms hit the Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv regions in Ukraine. This led to fallen trees and power outages.

Additionally, severe floods and heavy rains have affected the United Arab Emirates, resulting in the flooding of parts of major highways.
