In the morning, near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, a drone killed a driver — the strike hit a transport workshop near the station site, according to the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).

Strike on the workshop: what happened

This morning, a drone hit a transport workshop near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant site. As a result of the attack, a driver was killed.

An IAEA team permanently present at the site will investigate the incident and continue monitoring the situation at the plant.

What the IAEA chief said

“Strikes on or near NPPs can endanger nuclear safety and must not take place,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

As previously reported by RBC-Ukraine, on April 26, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant experienced its 15th blackout since the occupation in 2022. Due to the disconnection of the Ferrosplavna-1 power line, the plant operated for nearly one and a half hours on 19 backup diesel generators.

It should be recalled that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been under occupation since March 2022. At that time, nuclear fuel and technologies of the American company Westinghouse Electric Company also came under Russian control.
