Explosions rock Crimea, likely Russian S-400 air defense system hit
In the temporarily occupied Crimea, explosions were reported, likely targeting an S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, reports the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko.
"Crimea. Rumor has it there was a hit on the location of the Russians' S-400 system, where ammunition was also stored," wrote Kovalenko.
Meanwhile, Russian local Telegram channels claim the "destruction of ammunition."
S-400
The S-400 Triumf is a Russian long-range anti-aircraft missile system designed to engage aircraft, cruise, and ballistic missiles, as well as ground targets. Commissioned in 2007, it is a modernization of the previous S-300 system, offering greater range, accuracy, and the ability to attack multiple targets simultaneously. Its main components include radar stations, a command post, launchers, and various types of missiles capable of hitting targets at distances of up to 400 km and altitudes of up to 30 km.
Explosions in Crimea
Crimea has been under occupation since 2014. After that, the Russians have been transforming the peninsula into a massive military base, heavily fortified with air defense systems. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian defense forces have regularly targeted strategic sites on the peninsula.
Yesterday, November 27, new explosions were reported in Crimea. At that time, Russians claimed their ADS was in operation, while locals reported a strike on the Belbek airfield.
