Powerful explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro overnight on October 30, as the cities came under ballistic missile attack, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration head Ivan Fedorov, and Ukrainian media.

"Explosions in the Zaporizhzhia region. Please remain in safe places until the all-clear is given," regional governor Ivan Fedorov wrote around 4:00 AM Kyiv time.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force had warned of a ballistic missile threat from Crimea, with subsequent radar data showing a target heading toward Zaporizhzhia.

According to monitoring channels, at least four missiles struck the city within ten minutes. Fedorov later confirmed the attack, noting that an infrastructure facility was damaged.

"Zaporizhzhia is under fire. An infrastructure site was hit. According to preliminary reports, there are no casualties," he said.

At 5:00 AM Kyiv time, Fedorov posted photos showing the aftermath of the missile strike on Zaporizhzhia.

In addition, Suspilne reported explosions in Dnipro, while the Ukrainian Air Force detected missile launches, classified as high-speed targets, heading toward the city.

Massive attacks across Ukraine

During the night of October 22, loud explosions were heard in Kyiv and several other cities as Russian forces launched both ballistic missiles and drones toward Ukraine.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who commented the following morning, Ukrainian air defense units, mobile fire groups, and drone interceptor teams operated throughout the night and into the morning. The strikes targeted civilian cities, primarily energy infrastructure, though many residential buildings were also hit.

Zelenskyy stressed that Russia’s talk of diplomacy means nothing as long as its leadership does not face real consequences.

He emphasized that every partner providing Ukraine with air defense systems and missiles is helping to save lives.

Two days later, on October 24, Russian forces struck energy facilities in the Dnipro, Kirovohrad, and Sumy regions, prompting authorities to introduce scheduled power outages from 7 AM to 11 PM across most of the country.
