Explosions heard in Kyiv amid aerial attack
In Kyiv, explosions were heard on the night of October 21. Air defense forces are actively engaged in response to the detection of enemy kamikaze drones in the capital, according to an RBC-Ukraine correspondent and the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA).
Explosions near the capital were heard around 12:22 AM Kyiv time. Before this, an air alert was declared in Kyiv due to an enemy attack involving Shahed-type strike drones.
City authorities announced the active defense operations in response to the drone attack.
"The air alert is ongoing! Air defense is operational in the capital. Stay in shelters until the alert is lifted!" said Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Additionally, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko clarified in his Telegram that air defense is operating on the left bank of Kyiv.
It was noted that the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the detection of an enemy strike drone moving from the east towards Kyiv, later confirming that the hostile aerial target was moving through Boryspil towards the capital.
Around 12:40 AM, another series of explosions was heard in the capital. Meanwhile, the Air Force once again urged residents of Kyiv to remain in shelters.
Additionally, at approximately 12:53 AM, another series of sounds resembling explosions was reported in Kyiv.
Shahed attack
It was previously reported that on the evening of October 20, Ukrainian military forces detected the launch of several groups of Shahed-type kamikaze drones by Russian forces. As a result, air alerts were declared in several regions of Ukraine.
In the night leading to October 21, the warning of a potential enemy air attack was also issued in Kyiv, with reports of an enemy strike drone moving towards the capital.
