Explosions heard in Kyiv, air defense works

Explosions were heard in Kyiv as air defense forces worked to shoot down Russian attack drones, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration and its head, Tymur Tkachenko.
At 02:41 Kyiv time, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported several aerial targets over the Kyiv region.
“Air defense is actively working, which can be heard on the outskirts of the capital. The threat to Kyiv remains. Enemy drones are changing their flight paths,” the statement said.
At 02:47 Kyiv time, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that air defense systems were already working to eliminate the threat in the skies over Kyiv.
“Remain in shelters until the official all-clear signal,” the administration urged.
“Air defense is active!” wrote Tkachenko.
Monitoring channels reported explosions in Kyiv, on the outskirts of the capital, as well as in Boryspil.

“The threat of drones entering the airspace of the capital remains. We urge everyone not to ignore the danger!” the statement reads.
Russian drone attack
On the night of May 18, Russian forces launched a massive kamikaze drone attack on Ukraine using Shahed drones. Between 60 and 80 drones were detected simultaneously in Ukrainian airspace.
On the morning of Saturday, May 17, Russian forces struck an evacuation minibus with a Lancet drone near the town of Bilopillia in the Sumy region. As a result of the attack, 9 people were killed.
Earlier, on the night of May 16, Russian forces launched a massive Shahed drone strike on the Odesa region.
A woman died in the hospital from injuries sustained during the attack.
