Explosions heard in Kharkiv and Dnipro amid missile attack alert

Explosions were heard in the cities of Kharkiv and Dnipro on the night of April 18, amid the Russian airstrike. The Russians used missile weapons for the bombardment, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak.
Missile strike on Kharkiv
The mayor of Kharkiv reported the explosions at 05:09 AM.
"Explosions in Kharkiv! Be careful!" - the mayor wrote in the post.
A few minutes later, he mentioned that "four missile strikes on the city" had been recorded.
The mayor added that the consequences of the Russian attack are being clarified.
Later, he confirmed that the Russian missile "struck a densely populated area of Kharkiv."
"There was a hit on a high-rise building. People may be trapped under the rubble," Terekhov reported.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, stated that, according to preliminary information, the missile strike on Kharkiv hit residential apartment buildings in the Osnovianskyi district.
Later, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that five people were injured as a result of the Russian missile strike.
"Among the injured is a small child," he added.
Subsequently, Syniehubov stated that 20 people had been reported injured due to the missile attack in Kharkiv.
"The Russians struck a densely populated area of Kharkiv. According to preliminary data, 20 people were injured," the official said.
Later, the mayor clarified that, as of now, 12 people have been injured and one person killed in Kharkiv as a result of the missile strike.
Attack on Dnipro
Simultaneously with the explosions in Kharkiv, reports of an explosion in the Dnipro region began to emerge.
"Dnipro. Loud. All information will follow. Air alert is ongoing. Stay in safe places," wrote the head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak.
Before this, the Air Force had warned about the movement of a missile in the direction of Dnipro.
The military had also previously informed about the activity of enemy tactical aviation in the northeast and southeast directions, warning of the threat of airstrikes on frontline areas.
Additionally, at 05:06 AM, the Air Force reported Russian missiles moving from the east toward Zaporizhzhia. Later, the military urged residents of Dnipro to take shelter.
The Air Force also mentioned the movement of missiles toward Dnipro from the southern direction.
Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council recently reported that during the so-called “energy truce,” Russian terrorists killed nearly 2.5 times more Ukrainians than during the same period before its announcement.
