An explosion was heard in the Kharkiv region on the evening of May 29, shortly after the military warned of a high-speed aerial target, according to a statement from Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the Ukrainian Air Force.

At around 6:30 p.m. Kyiv time today, May 29, Ukraine’s Air Force warned residents of the Kharkiv region about a high-speed aerial target heading in their direction.

Just minutes later, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that an explosion had been heard in the city.

However, he later clarified that, according to his information, the strike did not hit the city itself but rather somewhere in the Kharkiv region.

As of 6:46 p.m., an air raid alert was still in effect in the region.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that the enemy attacked the Kharkiv region with two missiles.

"Explosions were heard in the suburbs of Chuhuiv. Information about casualties and the consequences of the strike is being clarified," he added.

Syniehubov also emphasized that Russia continues to terrorize the peaceful population of the Kharkiv region and urged residents not to ignore air raid alerts.

Attacks on the Kharkiv region

On May 28, two villages in the Kharkiv region were hit by airstrikes. As a result of drone attacks by Russian forces, eight people were injured, including a four-year-old child.

That night, the Russian army once again launched strike drones against Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy used several groups of Shahed drones, attacking from both the south and the north.

Earlier today, analysts reported that Russia had relocated 40 Tu-22M3 bombers to Olenya air base. RBC-Ukraine provided a detailed analysis of what these aviation maneuvers could indicate.
