Experts from the IAEA recorded military activity near two Ukrainian NPPs - Khmelnytsky and Zaporizhzhia - during the night, according to the IAEA, International Atomic Energy Agency.

According to the Director-General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, late in the evening on November 28, experts heard several explosions near the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine.

"There is significant attention from the world, and rightly so, focused on the very real dangers facing the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is of particular concern as it is located on the front line. However, yesterday's incident serves as a reminder that we should not forget about other nuclear facilities in Ukraine that are also potentially susceptible to missile and other attacks," stated Grossi.

Additionally, earlier, the IAEA stated that experts at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant had also been warned about the threat of shelling. Moreover, over the last day, sounds of explosions were heard at some distance from the station.

The situation at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant

In the Khmelnytskyi region, sounds of explosions were reported in the evening on Tuesday, November 28. In the region, an air raid alert has been declared due to the threat of an enemy attack using Shahed-type drones.

Situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was seized by occupying forces on March 4, 2022. Since then, there have been multiple reports of the territory of the plant, several power units, and the cooling pond being mined. Additionally, Russian forces are using the plant to store equipment and personnel.

It's worth noting that at the end of October, the Ministry of Energy reported that the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was deteriorating. According to Minister Herman Halushchenko, the plant has been non-operational for over a year.
