The US President stated that he had a "excellent telephone conversation" with the Chinese leader, during which they discussed a range of issues.
"It was a long and thorough call, where many important subjects were discussed, including trade, military, the April trip that I will be making to China," he wrote in his post.
Among the topics covered by the leaders of the two countries, Trump mentioned the war between Ukraine and Russia, Taiwan, the situation with Iran, China’s purchase of US oil and gas, and more.
"The relationship with China, and my personal relationship with President Xi, is an extremely good one, and we both realize how important it is to keep it that way," the US President noted.
Trump also expressed confidence that "many positive results achieved over the next three years of my Presidency having to do with President Xi, and the People’s Republic of China."
Trump and the war in Ukraine
US efforts to accelerate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine could unintentionally create conditions for a new escalation of the conflict.
US Senator Lindsey Graham believes the United States must significantly increase pressure on Russia, as it is not showing readiness for real negotiations. According to him, one effective measure could be providing Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles.
US President Donald Trump expressed the view that, in the long term, the UN could take on a key role in resolving global conflicts.
