Former Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, who resigned following a search of his apartment, told Western media that he is heading to the frontline, according to the New York Post.

Yermak stepped down after a search of his home conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and announced his intention to go to the frontline. He emphasized his readiness to face any consequences and apologized in advance for any lack of communication.

Experience in defending the country

Yermak recalled that since February 24, 2022, he has been in Kyiv and actively involved in the defense of Ukraine.

He noted that he does not want to create problems for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and did not specify when or how he plans to begin service at the frontline.

Connection with peace negotiations

Yermak’s resignation occurred amid preparations by the Ukrainian delegation for talks with the US team regarding the peace plan. According to Ukraine’s ambassador to the US, Yermak’s resignation helped avoid speculation and maintain public trust.

President’s reaction

President Zelenskyy emphasized Yermak’s patriotic stance and noted that his resignation does not change Ukraine’s diplomatic representation. At the same time, this step is expected to satisfy public opinion and restore trust among Ukrainians.

Zelenskyy has also already revised the composition of the delegation for further peace plan negotiations.

Investigation of “Operation Midas”

The year-long investigation concerns possible embezzlement of funds through Energoatom contractors. However, no procedural actions have been taken against Yermak following the search.
