Ukraine's strikes on Russian data centers could help European countries protect their elections from foreign interference, said Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

"I think we should ask Mr. Zelenskyy (Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – ed.) to strike more data centers in Russia, and that might help," Sinkevičius noted in response to a question about protecting elections from interference.

The Lithuanian prime minister also stressed that while strategies and plans are important, they will not deter Russia.

"The defense industries of our countries are still falling short of actual production needs, so we need to find ways to boost them through more active mutual cooperation and by learning from Ukraine's experience and expertise," he added.

Ukraine's strikes on data centers in Russia

As previously reported, Ukraine began responding in kind after Russian attacks on data centers.

On October 8, it emerged that Ukrainian forces had struck a Yandex data center in Russia's Ryazan region.

Following the attack, Russians reported disruptions to several services. Russian propaganda outlets' websites were among the affected sites.

On Sunday, October 11, a new attack on a Yandex data center in Russia's Vladimir region was reported.
