The European Commission made a statement following the visit of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to Beijing. In their opinion, China should exert influence on the Russian Federation to end the war, states European Commission spokesperson Nabila Massrali.

"It is not for me to comment on the relations between China and Ukraine at this point and time. What I can say is that we have a very clear position on Ukraine. We have stated them throughout. And what we have said throughout to our colleagues in China is that as a UN member and UN Security Council member, China should use its influence on Russia to stop the war in Ukraine," said the spokesperson.

She also noted that the EU continues to support President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's peace formula, which is currently the only acceptable peace plan for ending the Russian war in Ukraine.

"For us, the peace plan is President Zelensky's peace plan. I mean, this has been very clear, the HRVP just stated it at the FAC, last FAC, this was discussed among the ministers, the 27 ministers," Massrali emphasized.

According to her, the European Commission's position on the peace plan has never changed, and it has always been that Ukraine should be part of these negotiations.

It is worth noting that yesterday, July 25, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister held a three-hour meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.

RBC-Ukraine provided a detailed account of Kuleba's visit and discussed whether this visit might be considered a breakthrough.

At the same time, during his video address, Zelenskyy emphasized that following the negotiations between the two ministers, Kyiv received a clear signal that China supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
