EU calls for more military aid to Ukraine after Russian strike on Kostiantynivka
The European Union has condemned the Russian strike on Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. Brussels has called for increased military support to Ukraine, according to the EU chief diplomat Josep Borrell on Twitter (X).
"Russia again targeted Ukrainian civilians, attacking a busy shopping centre in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. We support accountability for this and other Russian war crimes," he said.
The diplomat stressed the need to increase support for Ukraine amid the Russian occupiers' attacks.
"Ukraine needs more military support now to protect its cities, civilians and infrastructure," Borrell stated.
Attack on Kostiantynivka
On August 9, Russian forces struck the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. The shopping center was attacked while around 50 people were inside.
According to the latest data, 14 people were killed in the Russian strike, including children. Six individuals remain unidentified. There are also 43 reported injuries from the attack.
Additionally, a branch of Nova Poshta in Kostiantynivka was hit by the enemy strike. The building was severely damaged, and an employee was injured.
