Ambassadors of the European Union countries may reach an agreement on introducing new sanctions against Russia in the coming days, according to journalist Rikard Jozwiak, as reported in his statement.

"European leaders won't agree on the latest Russia sanctions today in Copenhagen, but there are hopes that EU ambassadors can green-light the measures when they meet on Friday," noted Jozwiak.

Today, October 1, an informal EU summit will be held in Copenhagen. On October 2, the summit of the European Political Community (EPC) will take place there.

It is reported that no official decisions will be made at today's informal summit. The parties plan to discuss the creation of a drone wall to protect the EU's eastern border, the use of frozen Russian assets to provide a loan to Ukraine, and the 19th package of sanctions against Russia.

Sanctions against Russia

On September 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decrees on three new packages of sanctions against Russia and Russian collaborators who support the war in Ukraine and destabilize Moldova.

Recently, Ukraine fully synchronized its sanctions with those introduced by Canada this year. They were imposed against 139 individuals and legal entities working for Russia's war effort. Notably, among them are relatives of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

Shortly before that, Ukraine and EU countries imposed new personal and sectoral sanctions against 35 individuals and legal entities associated with the state corporation Rosatom and Russian energy companies.
