Estonian Foreign Minister: No restrictions on Ukraine's use of provided weapons
Estonia is following the operation of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region. They are part of Ukraine's self-defense, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna.
"Ukraine has the right to defend itself and attack legitimate military targets on Russian territory. I would like to reiterate that Estonia has never set any restrictions on where and how Ukraine is allowed to use the military aid we have provided," stated Tsahkna.
He reminded that it was Russia that started the aggression against Ukraine. This means that the war will end when Russia withdraws its troops from the entire territory of Ukraine and stops all hostilities.
"Estonia is in full support of Ukraine in its attempts to repel the aggressor from its territory and win the war, which is why we are keenly following Ukraine’s operation in Kursk," the Minister said.
Estonia supports Ukraine during the war
Estonia fully supports Ukraine by providing military, humanitarian and financial assistance, hosting refugees and supporting it on the international stage. In addition, the Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine, Annely Kolk, stated that Tallinn is ready to consider sending its military to Ukraine.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the allies have been supporting Ukraine. However, one of the conditions for providing military assistance was that it must be used within Ukraine's sovereign territories.
After Russia launched a second offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region in May 2024, a number of partners lifted restrictions on Ukraine's use of weapons.
In particular, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made it clear that Ukraine could use Storm Shadow missiles. Read more about the permission from the UK in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
