Estonia urges full international isolation of Russia amid latest attacks

Russia ran one of its largest air assaults on Kyiv since the start of the full-scale invasion. In response, Estonia called for complete strategic isolation of Moscow, according to a statement by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
Russia's strike details
Based on the Estonian foreign minister, Russian forces launched 40 ballistic missiles at the Ukrainian capital during the overnight attack. The strikes hit residential buildings, shopping malls, and public transport stops.
At least one person was killed, and many civilians were injured in the attack.
"Russia's brutality continues to fall overwhelmingly on civilians. After five years of full‑scale war, the human toll is staggering. The world cannot look away. Accountability for these crimes must be pursued in the strongest possible terms," Minister Tsahkna said.
Call for tougher sanctions
The foreign minister stressed that the Kremlin resorts to outright terror when it realizes it cannot achieve its strategic objectives on the battlefield by other means. That is why, he said, the international community must respond with maximum resolve.
"Our isolation of Russia cannot pause for even a moment. Pressure must intensify. Sanctions must deepen. Only firm, continuous strategic isolation can make it truly impossible for the Kremlin to continue this campaign of terror," the diplomat said.
Russia's massive attack on Ukraine on July 19
As previously reported, the Russian military launched a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine overnight on July 19, using dozens of missiles and more than 100 strike drones.
Ukraine's air defense forces intercepted most of the incoming aerial targets, protecting the main areas targeted by the attack.
Kyiv remained the primary focus of Russia's overnight assault.
According to Yurii Ihnat, head of communications for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, the attack on Kyiv was one of the largest in terms of the number of ballistic missiles launched. Although it was not the largest on record.
The Ukrainian Air Force also released a detailed report on its overnight air defense operations, confirming that the majority of Russian missiles and drones were intercepted.
Military officials also analyzed Russia's tactics and the intensity of strikes over the past 35 days, comparing the latest attack with previous large-scale ballistic missile assaults on Kyiv.
