Estonia has expelled and handed over to Ukrainian authorities a Ukrainian citizen, Stanislav Matlak, who maintained contacts with Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), according to ERR.

At the request of Estonia's Internal Security Service (KAPO), the Police and Border Guard Board revoked Stanislav Matlak's residence permit on national security grounds. He had been living in Estonia since 2019.

KAPO determined that the Ukrainian national had maintained contacts with Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) and that his actions supported Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

As a result, the Police and Border Guard Board deported Matlak from Estonia and handed him over to Ukrainian authorities for further action.

"All foreign nationals residing or staying in Estonia, as well as Estonian citizens, are obligated to report any contact with foreign intelligence services to the Internal Security Service," said KAPO spokesperson Marta Tuul.

She urged anyone who finds themselves under the influence of hostile intelligence agencies to reach out to the Internal Security Service at kapo@kapo.ee.

"Estonia is a democratic country that supports its people. But it is critically important that individuals take the initiative and show a willingness to break free from traps set by hostile intelligence services," Tuul emphasized.

We previously reported that law enforcement authorities in Germany and Switzerland had detained three Ukrainian citizens suspected of attempting to send packages containing explosive devices on behalf of Russian intelligence services.
