Erdogan accuses Israel of provoking new regional conflict
President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the leadership of Israel as a whole bear exclusive responsibility for the recent escalation of tension in the Middle East, according to Sky News.
Erdogan said at a press conference that Israel is trying to provoke a regional conflict, and its attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus was the last straw.
In the opinion of the President of Turkiye, new regional conflicts are possible as long as cruelty and genocide continue in Gaza.
He called on all parties to act with common sense in their actions.
The Turkish leader also criticized the West for condemning Iran's attack, but not Israel's strike on the Iranian consulate.
Last weekend Iran launched a massive air strike on Israeli territory using missiles and drones.
Tehran called it retaliation for the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. Israel did not take responsibility for the strike.
Now Tel Aviv is preparing a response to Iran's attack.
Other anti-Israel statements by Erdogan
After the start of the military operation in Gaza, which was launched in response to a terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, the President of Turkiye stated that his country would present Israel to the world as a war criminal and occupier.
In response, Tel Aviv instructed its diplomats to leave Turkiye.
Erdogan also stated that his country does not consider Hamas a terrorist organization.
