Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that US President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Kyiv to strike Russian territory with American missiles will escalate the war, akin to throwing fire into a "powder keg," according to CNN Turk.

"We do not see this decision as right and do not approve of it. Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, we have believed that it should end not with more weapons, more blood, and more tears, but with more peace efforts, goodwill, and diplomacy," Erdoğan said.

He said, "Biden has made a move that can be interpreted as fueling the war and ensuring it never ends."

Erdoğan believes that Biden's decision will escalate the conflict and provoke a stronger response from Russia.

"Putin has also approved a doctrine allowing his country to respond with nuclear weapons in the event of an attack involving ballistic missiles. All this could push the region and peace to the brink of a new major war," the Turkish president added.

Erdoğan urged the Ukrainian and Russian sides to focus on peace, "keeping calm and avoiding provocations."

"Even the smallest misstep stemming from this significant mistake would be akin to throwing fire into a powder keg. Therefore, I advise everyone to exercise caution," Erdoğan stated.

Strikes on Russia

It should be recalled that US President Joe Biden has allowed Ukraine to carry out strikes on Russian territory using long-range weapons. Ukraine has already hit warehouses and other military facilities in Russia with ATACMS missiles.

Following this, Putin adjusted Russia’s nuclear doctrine, providing more opportunities for nuclear strikes against Ukraine.

Additionally, according to The Times, the US has given Ukraine the "green light" to use British-made Storm Shadow missiles for strikes on Russia.
