The article says that Epstein's published letters mention his promises to attract Western investments to Russia, as well as his attempts to secure confidential, hours-long negotiations with the Russian leader.

Seeking a meeting with Putin

Epstein wrote to former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak that Norwegian politician Thorbjørn Jagland was preparing to meet with Putin in Sochi and offered to convey his desire to help the Russian leader.

“You can tell him (Putin - ed.) that you and I are close, and that i advise Gates . this is confidential, . I would be happy to meet him , but for a minimum of two to three hours, not shorter,” the letter said.

The Norwegian prosecutor's office has already launched an investigation into Jagland. According to his lawyer, the politician will cooperate with the investigation but denies any wrongdoing.

Epstein pointed to his ties with Bill Gates to emphasize his own influence. Gates himself denied any illegal activities related to Epstein.

CNN emphasizes that the released documents do not confirm that a meeting between Epstein and Putin took place.

Epstein and the Russian Foreign Ministry

According to the published documents, Epstein maintained contact with the then Russian ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, and, after Churkin's death in 2017, turned his attention to the head of the country's Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov.

“I think you might suggest to putin, that lavrov, can get insight on talking to me. vitaly churkin used (to) but he died. ?!,” Epstein wrote in a letter to Jagland.

In response, the Norwegian politician said he would meet with Lavrov's assistant and pass on the proposal.

CNN emphasizes that Epstein's letters testify not only to his interest in Russia but also to his attempts to influence political processes through personal contacts.

Former US president Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, will appear before Congress to testify in the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein files.

US president Donald Trump has responded for the first time to the mass mention of his name in a new batch of Jeffrey Epstein's files. He stated that he had no connection to the sex offender's case.
